This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Smerble, a free name generator that requires no account or sign-up. It is written to be read in one sitting, not skimmed past.
The short version
Smerble does not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, or any personal details to let you generate names. Names you save to your Keepers list stay in your own browser for the length of your visit and are not sent to us.
Information we do not collect
Because there is no sign-up, we do not collect or store: your name, email address, phone number, or postal address; any account credentials; or the specific names you generate and save. Your Keepers list is kept in your browser's local storage on your own device and is cleared when your session ends or you clear your browser data.
Information processed automatically
Like most websites, our servers and third-party providers may automatically process limited technical data when you load a page. This can include your IP address, browser type and version, device type, the pages you visit, and the date and time of your visit. This information is used in aggregate to keep the site running, understand which generators are useful, and guard against abuse. It is not used to identify you personally.
Cookies and local storage
Smerble uses your browser's local storage to remember the names you have saved during a visit. We do not use this to track you across other websites. If we use cookies for basic analytics or performance, they are used only to measure how the site is working.
Third-party services
We load web fonts from Google Fonts to display the site correctly. When a font is requested, Google may receive your IP address and basic device information under its own privacy policy. Other third-party services we rely on to host and operate the site may process limited technical data on our behalf.
Children's privacy
Smerble is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your choices
You can browse and generate names without providing any personal information. You can clear your saved names at any time using the buttons on the page or by clearing your browser's site data. You can also disable cookies or local storage in your browser settings, though some features may not work as intended.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the site changes. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Smerble after a change means you accept the updated policy.
