What is the Team Name Generator?
Any group eventually needs a name with a bit of personality — trivia nights, fantasy leagues, work channels, clubs. This tool produces fun, memorable options for exactly that.
How to use it
Use it for a quiz team, a league roster, a club, a project group or a group chat. Heart the ones that land, copy a name, or download a set.
What makes a good team name?
A team name should be fun to shout and slightly absurd, which is why animals and weather words dominate quiz leagues. Alliteration helps people remember it.
Tips for better results
Add your location or your captain's name in the customiser, then announce it at the start of a game and see if anyone laughs.
Where these names come from
Every team name on Smerble is built from its own word lists and patterns. The generator mixes them at random, and a no-repeat bag system means the same combination will not come up twice in a row. Everything runs in your browser as you click, so nothing is sent to us.
Frequently asked questions
Is the team name generator free to use?
Yes. Every Smerble generator is free, with no account, no sign-up and no limit on how many names you generate.
Can I add my own words?
Yes. Open the Customize panel on this page, type your own options separated by commas, and press Suggest. Any field you leave blank is filled in for you.
What kind of names will I get?
Adjective-and-plural-noun names, animal and force pairings, location-based names and leader-led names for quizzes, fantasy leagues and clubs.
Can I use the names commercially?
You can use the names you generate however you like. For a business, product or brand, check that the domain and trademark are available first, since Smerble does not verify those.
